Active Parenting Today
This class is for parents of children
ages 5 to 18. It is designed to help develop the communication
and discipline skills to meet the concerns of parents today.
All ages and stages are discussed including those challenging,
but also rewarding, teen years. This class meets for
for 6 sessions , two hours each session. This class will
help you:
* Recognize the different styles
of parenting * Avoid power struggles
* Develop effective communication skills * Apply natural and
logical consequences
* Use a problem handling model * Hold effective family meetings
Kaiser members: $70 single / $105 couple
Non-Kaiser members: $80 single / $120 couple
Fees include a Parent’s Guide Workbook,
a completion certificate, class handouts and supplies.
All classes open to the public. Childcare is
not provided. Classes start at 7:00 P.M.

Active Parenting for Stepfamilies
This class is for parents of stepchildren
ages 5 to 18. It is designed to help couples work together
to raise children in a stepfamily environment. Getting married
is the easy part! When a stepfamily is formed, everyone needs
to learn new rules. Mom and Dad need to learn to work together
as a team. Children must adapt to changes as well. this class meets for 4 sessions with 2 additional at-home assignments, two hours each session.
This class will help you:
* Recognize the different styles
of parenting * Avoid power struggles with the new parent.
* Develop effective communication skills *
* Use a problem handling model to help adapt to the new family

* Hold effective and vital family meetings *
Kaiser members: $65 single / $100 couple
Non-Kaiser members: $85 single / $115 couple
Fees include a Parent’s Guide Workbook,
a completion certificate, class handouts and supplies.

Cooperative Parenting and Divorce
This class is for parents who find themselves
in a co-parenting role. The emphasis is on developing a working
relationship with the other co-parent or step-parent. However,
effective communication and discipline techniques are also
discussed. This class meets for 8 sessions,
two hours each session. This class will help you:
* Stay child focused * Plan for
peace rather than engage in a “tug of war”
* Manage anger - neither fight nor flight * Defuse stress
- take control of conflict
* Negotiate agreements - all be winners * Choose a personal
path
Kaiser members: $95 per person
Non-Kaiser members: $115 per person
(Materials and book included with registration fee.)

This class is for parents of toddlers,
ages 1 to 4. It is designed to help you develop a positive
relationship with your child from day one. This class
meets for 4 sessions, an hour and a half each session.
This class will help you:
* Build a bond with your child
* Manage problems such as tantrums
* Use discipline methods that work * Understand your child
at different ages and stages
* Childproof your home * Find great ways to care for yourself
Kaiser members: $60 single / $90
couple
Non-Kaiser members: $70 single / $105 couple
